ASE Enterprise Edition Minimum Seat Policy

The purchase of a Server License (SR) for Adaptive Server Enterprise - Enterprise Edition for use on any machine, must be accompanied by the purchase of at least twenty (20) Networked Seat (ST) or Concurrent User (CU) licenses per core/processor for each core/processor contained on the machine.

This policy will be enforced during your online purchase. You are required to enter the total Core quantity for all machines being licensed, for each ASE Enterprise Edition Server license purchase. Please use the example below to calculate the total Core quantity for your ASE Enterprise Edition Server license purchases.

Why do I need to calculate Total Core Quantity?

The total Core quantity is used to determine the minimum required Seat quantity for your purchase.  You need to license at least 20 seats for each core in your server(s).

Total Core quantity must be at least equal to, or greater than, your Server License (SR) purchase quantity.

How do I calculate Total Core Quantity?

Example:  If purchasing three (3) Server licenses for ASE Enterprise Edition on Sun Solaris SPARC, where one machine being licensed has two (2) Cores, and two machines being licensed have four (4) Cores each:

     Machine 1 Core quantity =  2

     Machine 2 Core quantity =  4

     Machine 3 Core quantity =  4

            Total Core quantity = 10

How do I calculate the minimum quantity of Seat licenses to purchase?

To calculate the total minimum Seat license quantity required per Server license purchase, use the formula:

(Total Core quantity) * 20 = Total minimally required Seat license quantity

In the example above, the total minimally required Seat license quantity is two hundred (200):

     10 * 20 = 200
